Key Activities & Responsibilities

• Working with the wider Public Affairs (PA) team to deliver a proactive strategy of backbench engagement for TheCityUK – developing a clear picture of the personalities, motivations and priorities of this important cohort of stakeholders and identifying future leaders amongst them.
• Overseeing engagement with parliamentary committees – in particular their clerks and chairs –
and all-party groups to identify opportunities for TheCityUK to engage with key stakeholders.
• Building strong networks across Parliament including with MPs, researchers and advisers.
• Producing written briefings for MPs and peers ahead of debates in either chamber or Westminster Hall.
• Ensuring that TheCityUK’s CRM database of political contacts is kept up to date at all times and
can be used to communicate with stakeholders.
• Work with the Regions and Nations manager to find opportunities to influence the devolved legislatures in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast.
• Supporting the Head of Public Affairs to engage with think tanks across the political spectrum and identify other influencers on our key stakeholders.

Other Duties

• Supporting the team to deliver parliamentary receptions and events including identifying stakeholders for our roundtable series.
• Support the wider PA team with engagements, conferences and events.

Person Specification

• Thorough understanding of parliamentary procedures and processes, likely gained through direct experience of working in Westminster.
• Excellent networking skills and evidence of existing networks.
• Ability to produce succinct briefings for politicians ahead of debates.
• Experience of delivering political or public affairs events.
